From FTP uploads to monitored pipelines

The Challenge

A web agency builds WordPress and custom websites for a growing number of clients. Deployments had until then run manually via FTP straight onto host storage: no versioning, no rollback, no overview of which site ran which — potentially vulnerable — WordPress or plugin version. A faulty upload meant a downed client site with no way back. As the portfolio grew, this manual model became unmanageable and increasingly a security risk.

Our Approach

• Introducing GitHub as the single source of truth — all projects moved into version control
• Building automated CI/CD pipelines for reproducible deployments with rollback instead of FTP uploads
• A standardised, repeatable deployment workflow across the entire client portfolio
• Handing ongoing monitoring over to KI-Ops: continuous monitoring of uptime and errors
• Automatic detection of critical and outdated versions (WordPress, plugins, dependencies) across all sites
